I've been a member of Wharncliffe for the past four years, although previously having fished it on day tickets, and have always enjoyed the fishing and the friendly atmosphere. I've also caught my biggest trout at Wharncliffe and, after 30 years of fly fishing, it goes to show the quality of the fishing to be had there.
I'd previously never caught on a Diawl Bach but, for some inexplicable reason one day, decided to tie one on a dropper. I was rewarded, after a tremendous fight, with this magnificent 12lb Blue, the date was September 13th - lucky for some eh!
For me a Diawl Bach is now a must-have fly and has since caught me many fine trout, including a 9lb Rainbow!!!

Just renewed my membership after my first year fly fishing for nearly 40 yrs,FANTASTIC
!Best fish a 7lb 12oz rainbow best bag about 20 I put the blanks to the back of my mind and just keep trying.
My last blank was Sunday when I couldn't buy a fish! But I had 10 Sat 4 Friday 7 Mon 7 today Tues 24th.I am learning all the time from other members and now tie most of my flys, retireing early was one of my better moves and joing Wharncliffe was the best money ive ever spent.
One of the recent new members Ken caught a 7lb 4oz rainbow on Sat.he's a very good angler and one you can learn from.
I hope this email gets where its suposed to P.S. Richard the web site designer tried my two rods on Sat and caught a fish on each in only 3 casts !!! ,
